Students at TCda

July 21-23, 2013

Earlier this year, twenty North Shore Middle School students created audition recordings that were sent in to a panel at the Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA). Four NSMS students made the journey to San Antonio, Texas to join a group of 200 students from across the state to sing in the prestigeous honor choir under the direction of Dr. Lynn Gackle from Baylor University. The students stayed in San Antonio for three days and participated in intense rehearsals, really delving into the music, all the while enjoying making new friends and creating memories that won't soon be forgotten. The final concert was performed to a packed audience of music educators, family members and friends. The students performed magnificently and received a standing ovation from a very enthusiastic audience. We are so proud of our Mustang Choir representatives!

Mustangs in bobcat Land

July 10-13, 2013

Texas State Junior High Choir Camp is one of the highlights of the summertime. This year sixteen of our NSMS Mustang Choir students woke up early in the morning in the middle of the summer to make the trip to San Marcos, Texas for camp. The students enjoyed learning challenging and exciting music. The counselors at TSCC really worked to make sure the campers enjoyed their experience and were exposed to the talent to be found at the collegiate level. The students were also able to show their own individual talents by auditioning and being selected to participate in the camp's Talent Show. One of our own Mustangs won first place and another received the "Tony Award" so named for the famous musical theater award. On the last night at camp the students could be found having fun at the Camp Dance. The last day of camp held an incredible final concert under the direction of Dr. Bob Horton of the Woodlands High School. A wonderful time was had by all. We look forward to camp next summer!

success at uil contest

March 4-7, 2014

This school year brought many amazing changes for our North Shore Middle School Mustang Choirs. We added a new boys choir, Cantare, that competed in their first UIL Competition and made a big splash. The gentlemen of Cantare brought home a plaque for their superior rating in the sight-reading room. Voce participated in their third UIL and earned their first plaque for their superior rating in their concert. Cantabile earned their SECOND consecutive sweepstakes trophy, Mixed Choir earned their EIGHTH consecutive sweepstakes trophy, Chorale earned their NINTH consecutive sweepstakes trophy, and Bel Canto earned their FOURTEENTH consecutive sweepstakes trophy for superior ratings both on stage and in the sight-reading room. These NSMS Mustang Choir students did themselves and their directors proud!

region clinic & Concert

October 6-7, 2013

Our North Shore Middle School Mustang Choir students never fail to amaze! They put in the hard work over the past few months to make it through before and after school rehearsals, our Pre-Region Clinic, and Region Auditions all to get to the Region Clinic and Concert Weekend. Our students represented their school with pride in both the All-Region Mixed and Treble Choirs. The students were attentive and focused participants in their sectionals and group rehearsals and really took advantage of the fantastic teaching from their clinicians. They cut loose and were the life of the party at the dance Friday night and kept their energy going all through the concert on Saturday.

Way to go NSMS Mustang Choir members!

Texas state choir camp

July 9-12, 2014

This summer fourteen North Shore Middle School Mustang Choir members made the journey from Houston to San Marcos, Texas to enjoy four days of intense musical experiences at the Texas State Junior High Choir Camp. They met other energetic campers from all around Texas and enjoyed diving into new and exciting music during sectional rehearsals and large mixed choir rehearsals. The students spent their nights in real college dorm rooms, went to performances and a dance all over the campus, and performed a magnificent final concert to a packed audience in the new Performing Arts Center.

We have already marked our calendars for next year's camp!
